House of Neighborly Service has a hand up versus hand out approach to assisting people in need.

Our intention is not to serve the same people indefinitely, but rather to give each client the unique set of tools they need to become self-reliant and succeed in our community.  Every client has a one-on-one interview with a trained caseworker to determine their immediate need and then look for ways to move them toward stability and then self-reliance.

As we travel the path together with our clients, we help them evaluate their situation and progress.  Financial education and accountability is a requirement of all HNS programs and services.
