Support HNS

You can always contact us to learn more about what our current needs are. Here are lists of both resource and volunteering needs that we have:

Resources Needed:

Gently Used Clothes and Shoes.

Over half of HNS clients are school-aged children.  Purchasing clothing for children is one of the many struggles low-income families face.  Seasonal clothing for this age group is always a need.  Please donate your children's gently used clothing and shoes to help these children.

Clothing for all ages is an ongoing need.  When you clear out your closet of casual and work clothing, shoes, sneakers and work boots, consider the House of Neighborly Service as the place to recyle those items on to your neighbors who will be delighted and grateful for the helping hand.

Seasonal clothing is encouraged as space for storage is very limited.  Thank you!

Clothing items are not sold to clients.

Needed Resources

Non-Perishable Foods

The food baskets that are distributed at the House of Neighborly Service were designed with the help of CSU to provide one week's worth of perishable and non-perishable foods.  Suggested items needed at this time:

-canned vegetables, fruits, soups,  and meats
-cereal, rice, pasta, flour and sugar
-toiletries:  TP, toothpaste & brushes, deodorant, shampoo
-baby items:  diapers of all sizes, formula
-senior supplimental drinks

CASH DONATONS purchase foods that are not donated to complete the nutritious food Baskets.  Milk, meat, margerine and eggs are purchased and added to every basket.  With every $1 donated, HNS can purchase $10 worth of food from partnering vendors.

Volunteers Needed:

Food Program

Food assistance is the number one request HNS receives from clients.  Our food program is supported with contributions from the community in the way of donated canned foods and cash donations.  Annual food drives are conducted by various groups in addition to the donations that come in each day.  Volunteers are valuable in sorting and categorizing incoming donations.  They also prepare and distribute food baskets to clients and pick up food donations from local stores.

NON-PERISHABLE FOODS MAY BE DONATED MONDAY - THURSDAY 9-4

If you, your church, business or an organization you are involved with is interested in reaching out to those in need, please contact us to learn the many ways you can get involved.

Needed Volunteers

Clothing Room

The House of Neighborly Service receives a large quanity of gently used clothing items, shoes and household items.  We rely on volunteers who work right along with our clothing room staff to sort, hang, and assist clients on their shopping visits.

DONATE CHILDREN'S CLOTHES AND SHOES NOW AS FAMILIES PREPARE TO RETURN TO SCHOOL!  THANK YOU!

Fundraising Events

Fundraising is simply a fundamental part of any non-profit's efforts to support the work that it is doing in the community.  HNS has several wonderful and successful fundraising events that we invite community members to get involved in:

2010 Events:

CROP Walk - May 1st
The CROP Walk is a faith based initiative to raise funds to feed the poor across the globe.  Walkers sign up at churches and throughout the community and gather sponsors for the 4K walk.  Come out and join the fun. One quarter of all funds raised are used to provide food for the House of Neighborly Service Food Program.

Have a Heart Food Drive  June 1-June 18
Sponsored by the Reporter Herald
Volunteers needed to pick up food donation from drop off sites-local grocery stores, libraries, business in Loveland and Berthoud-call Erin at HNS 667-4939 X19.

Gnarly Barley Brew Fest - August 7 1-6 pm
Volunteers will help facilitate this event at the Ranch on the opening Saturday of the Larimer County Fair.  Many local mini-brewers participate and volunteers help to serve beer samples, serve at the beer pairing tables.  Contact Bente at HNS X 15.

Valley 5000 5K Run/Walk - August 20 6:30 pm
5K run will start at the Old Fairgrounds Family Park.  Sponsored by McKee Medical Center, Home State Bank, City of Loveland and the Reporter Herald.  Volunteers will work as course marshalls, finish line coordinators, and food and drink stations.  Contact Bente at HNS X15.

FALL IN TO JEWELS - November 4th 5:30 pm
This annual fundraising event that supports our prescription assistance program is becoming the talk of the town.  Thousands of pieces of jewelry are donated by women of our community and then offered at the Fall in to Jewels sale for extremely reasonable costs.  Many pieces as low as $2. This last year two signed Tiffany & Co pieces were donated and sold through the event's silent auction.  You just never know what you will find.  Remember, "One girl's bauble is another girl's bling!"

PLEASE-Donate your gently used jewels at any time throughout the next year for next year's event:  fine, estate and costume jewelry.  Donate at House of Neighborly Service. Tax receipt provided -YOU determine value.

NEW IDEAS?  We are always excited and open to hear of new ideas and love the enthusiasm that new team players bring to the table.  Contact us if you would enjoy helping with a fundraising event or to discuss a fresh idea to support the House of Neighborly Service.

Donation Pick-up Drivers

The HNS Food Room receives daily donations of bread and pastries from several stores in Loveland.  Volunteer drivers are needed to pick up these goods and bring them to the House of Neighborly Service.   Several retail stores contribute clothing and household items to the clothing room.  The valuable volunteers who are involved with this service, may choose one day a week to make the rounds and collect these much appreciated donations.

Please call Erin 667-4939.
