HNS: COVID-19 Response

Effective March 17th, House of Neighborly Service is changing operations as follows:

Food Assistance: as of Tuesday, March 17, residents are able to come for pre-packed food baskets; based upon family size and availability of product. Please bring a proof of address. Recommended social distancing guidelines are in place. Loveland hours: Monday-Thursday, 9am-4pm. First Thursday of the month, 9am-7pm.

  • For Berthoud clients only: If you prefer to remain in your car, you can call or text (970) 532-0161 to arrange a pick up time. Your food basket will be brought to your car. Tuesdays/Thursdays, 9am-4pm. First Tuesday of the month, 9am-7pm. 

Clothing Boutique: closed until further notice based upon CDC recommendations for social distancing. Until further notice, donations of clothing will not being accepted.

Other Basic Need Services: all other assistance will be paused until further notice. Future process will be based upon funding and partner decisions (utility companies, local and national government). Utility Updates (from Energy Outreach Colorado): Regulated utilities have suspended disconnections. Xcel customers who are currently disconnected may call customer service at (800) 895-4999 to request a reconnect. Customers will also be offered a more generous payment arrangement than usual to cover outstanding debt.

Family Promise (formerly Angel House): Family Promise is at capacity and will not be accepting new clients at this time but will continue to serve the families currently enrolled in the program. Sheltered families will be housed in hotels in order to keep volunteers safe, this does put a financial strain on this program.

  • Monetary, grocery and restaurant gift cards donations are being accepted for this program to aid shelter expenses for the families. The estimated cost is $1,800-$2,275 per week.

137 Homeless Connection: effective March 17, 137 is following the recommendations for social isolation. Open for services Monday-Friday, 8AM-11:30AM – four individuals allowed in the building at a time.

PAT: effective March 16, PAT has suspended all in-home visits. This team will continue to correspond with families via virtual person visits. All group connections are cancelled until further notice.

Volunteers: volunteers should use their own discretion whether to come in or not. You are important to us! If you fall within the at-risk category, please stay home. Contact the manager of the program where you volunteer if you have questions.

Donations: we are in need of monetary and food donations in order to prepare for and meet the needs of our community members for food and other assistance. To make a monetary donation, please go here.  Food donations should be dropped off at:

  • Loveland: 1511 E. 11th St., Loveland, Monday-Thursday, 9AM – 4PM.
  • Berthoud: 375 Meadowlark Dr., Berthoud, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9AM – 4PM.

Items currently needed:

  • Peanut Butter

  • Canned tuna, canned chicken

  • Canned beans

  • Canned fruit

  • Canned Soup

  • Rice

  • Cereal/oatmeal

  • Baking mixes

  • Milk

  • Eggs

  • Produce

  • Toiletries (shampoo/conditioner, hand soap) and household products (toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap, dishwashing soap, tissue)
